Shockwave therapy
We are pleased to offer Shockwave Therapy here at Camberley Physiotherapy. Shockwave therapy is used to treat many chronic musculoskeletal conditions including:
Shoulder tendon problems
Tennis and golfers elbow
Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (trochanteric bursitis)
Achilles tendon problems
Plantar fasciitis
Myofascial trigger points plus many other chronic conditions
How does it work?
Radial shockwaves are introduced into the body by means of an applicator and cover the entire painful area. The pathological association between pain, muscle tone and vascular tone is broken as a result of shockwave therapy and the strong stimuli it produces, thus enabling natural movement patterns to be remembered. This triggers a more effective healing response.
Typically 3 treatments are required
Are there any side effects?
Common side effects include
- reddening
- swelling
- pain
- bruising
- petechial (red dots).
These should abate after 5-10 days
We are charging £85 per treatment for this new and highly effective intervention.
